Mains pressure units supplied via Newark copper
cylinders can be divided into:
Unvented mains pressure cylinders.
Thermal store cylinders.
Thermalstore
Available both
in cylinder and combination tank form the thermalstore provides
a pressure hot water service direct from the main. It achieves
this by operating in the reverse way to the conventional system.
The unit is heated up usually directly from the boiler or
via immersion heaters and the heat energy store thus provided
is used to instantaneously heat mains fed cold water passing
through a heat exchange coil.
Fitted with a matrix comprising a filter/strainer,
expansion vessel and thermostatic blending valve the unit is
capable of providing hot water at mains pressure at temperatures
suiting individual requirement.
For optimum efficiency the hot water store capacity of these
units should not be less than 140 litres.
Un-vented mains pressure system
Fed directly from the mains the un-vented system provides
an efficient pressure hot water service. Whilst at the same
time removing the need for a cold water storage tank and secondary
cold feed and vent. Supplied in indirect or electrically heated
form the un-vented cylinder usually comes complete with all
necessary control valves and fittings and ready for installation.
Installation must be by a competent person and the unit must
be commissioned by a "certificated" fitter.
