Shower Room Installation

Installing showers, trays and enclosures

Showering in the UK has grown enormously over the last decade, as most of us gain exposure to the showering experience abroad. Energy conservation has also played its part as more of us look for economical water heating and appliances that conserve water.

The real growth however, is in the demand for power showers especially in the replacement market with consumers trading up to pump assisted and mains pressure showers. The later being assisted by the popularity of the combination boiler which now accounts for over 50% of the UK market.

To accommodate the increased flow rates and high pressure shower jets, showers now need to be fitted with purpose designed shower cubicles or screens, the installation of which is critical to avoid leaks and damage to the homes structure.

However feedback from installers indicates that shower enclosures/cubicles generate more than the average number of consumer complaints, (PHAM news July/August 2000). The most common being call backs to replace cracking trays, to put right leaks from trays, enclosures and doors that aren't water tight; repairs to doors that are not easy to slide, open or close etc

In this section manufacturers are invited to contribute technical tips and advice regarding the installation of their products; follow the links below to view.
